DUT Impiloyami LGBT Forum

IMPILOYAMI is the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) student society at the Durban University of Technology (DUT). We strive to provide a social and safe space for LGBTI students and address their needs, interests, and concerns, to counter and oppose manifestations and homophobia, prejudice, and discrimination on campus as well as to promote knowledge about LGBTI issues. Through this organisation we further endeavour to foster mainstream acceptance of LGBTI students and facilitate greater understanding and tolerance of sexual and gender diversity and difference among the DUT public.


Nhlalonhle Makhathini

Nhlalonhle Makhathini (pronouns He/Him) is based in Pietermaritzburg KZN and is a qualified Web Developer and Social Media Manager. He is a Queer Activist, Feminist, and Proud Atheist.


University oF KwaZulu Natal LGBTQIA+ Forum

To ensure that no student within the LBGTQI+ community is discriminated against on the basis of colour, race, gender, religion, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, age, culture, language, birth, pregnancy, marital status, disability, conscience, belief or political inclination; To encourage participation of the entire LGBTQI+ community in activities of the CRTB;  


Uthingo Collective

Is an LGBTQIA+ and ally Apparel line that is co-founded by queer activist Wandile Khumalo and their partner to celebrate their co-parenting named after their son. Wandile played for the South African Woman’s Rugby team and is a proud transman who is advocating for women in sport.


Duma Literacy Foundation

Founded by Mercury Duma a proud transmen, the foundation is dedicated to rebuilding communities using literature tools, engaging with parents, ambitious learners and supportive communities.
