LGBTQI+ Webinar/Seminar: Each year the project actively seeks to  engage political parties and government on issues faced by LGBTQI+  communities. We develop a memorandum on the issue in consultation  with the community. The community heads up the discussions, are  part of the planning and are the drivers of the activity.

LGBTQI+ Active Citizen Workshops: With these workshops, we seek to  travel to KwaZulu-Natal districts to organize LGBTQI+ persons and  activists to champion political inclusion in their communities and to  engage with their local government, as well as capacitate them on  international (including United Nations), regional and national human  rights mechanisms they can use to address hate crime and  discrimination. We hope that this will encourage the community to  actively participate at ward/ground level, speaking to their community  leaders and municipal leaders, and holding government accountable to  redressing socio- economic issues.

LGBTQI+ Webinar/Seminar: Each year, the project actively seeks to  engage political parties and government on issues faced by LGBTQI+  communities. We develop a memorandum on the issue in LGBTQI+ Media Advocacy: To reach a wider audience, the project  develops media campaigns to highlight issues faced by LGBTQI+  communities and follow up on engagements in the webinar/seminar. It  develops new campaigns in response to current developments and  trends, and seeks to collaborate with queer activists. South Africa’s  local government elections is taking place in November 2021. We hope  to develop a Queer Voter Registration campaign to encourage LGBTQI+  persons to take up voting as a way to actively demonstrate treasuring their freedom. This campaign will be an extension of the Active  Citizenship Workshops we hope to host throughout the province.

Stakeholder Engagements: It is important for the project lead to  continue developing relationships with other civil organizations and  stakeholders who are working with key populations. This requires  attending meetings, email and telephonic communications. The project  cannot exist without mapping and building collaborative efforts to  make the project strong and impactful. Stakeholder engagement is  therefore indicated as one of the core activities. Stakeholder Engagements: It is important for the project lead to  continue developing relationships with other civil organizations and  stakeholders who are working with key populations. Commemoration Of Special LGBTQI+ International Days: Through out  the year, the International LGBTQI+ community celebrate different days  to advocate for LGBTQI+ human rights. It is important for us as the  forum to align our activities with such important days and to continue  to use these days to advocate locally for the marginalized community in KwaZulu-Natal.
